Title: American Psycho
Director: Mary Harron
Release Date: May 2000

Cast: Christian Bale, Chloë Sevigny, Willem Dafoe, Jared Leto, Reese Witherspoon, Matt Ross, Krista Sutton, Cara Seymour.

A very interesting, well-acted, and well-crafted social satire. See it—it’s good!

Patrick Bateman's opening monologue in front of the bathroom mirror sets the tone: "I live in the American Gardens Building on West 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine..." He describes a morning ritual of ice masks, deep-pore cleansers, and honey-almond body scrubs. He concludes that "Patrick Bateman is an idea, a kind of abstraction... there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory."

Christian Bale stars as Patrick Bateman, with Chloë Sevigny playing his secretary, Jean.

Bret Easton Ellis's novel "American Psycho" may be the most debated book of the last decade due to its dark tone and violence. However, director and screenwriter Mary Harron felt that the passing years provided perspective. Mary views the film more as a kind of fable than a realistic drama—noting that Bateman naturally wouldn't have escaped the long arm of the law in reality after living out his darkest desires and murdering people in the most bestial ways imaginable...

Who could imagine, in their wildest dreams, that this handsome, well-educated Patrick—who works by day as a high-earning executive on Wall Street—transforms into a monster by night?

The film was shot in New York and Toronto.

Editor’s Note (2026): Even though Iva called the film "well-crafted" and recommended it, she stuck to her rigorous 3-paw standard. It’s a perfect example of her discerning eye—she recognized the film's importance as a satire without letting the "Wall Street" hype inflate her score.

Stop missing out on the biggest metabolic advantage of Extra Virgin Olive Oil! If you use EVOO for weight management and satiety, you must understand the science of timing. This video reveals the single best time, backed by GLP-1 research, to consume raw EVOO to maximize appetite control and optimize your blood sugar response.

👉 THE NIGHTTIME PROTOCOL: Maximize your EVOO benefits around the clock! The Metabolic Mechanism: Why Timing Matters

For those interested in the deep science behind this timing protocol, the goal is not simply calorie counting, but hormonal optimization for spontaneous appetite control.

Consuming Extra Virgin Olive Oil 15-20 minutes pre-meal triggers the powerful release of GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) from the gut. This hormone accomplishes two crucial tasks: Increased Satiety: GLP-1 signals fullness to the brain earlier, resulting in spontaneous lower total calorie consumption during the main meal—a key strategy for weight management. Blood Sugar Control: GLP-1 also slows gastric emptying, which delays the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. This leads to a smoother, better blood sugar

response over the following two hours. This timing protocol is designed to use EVOO as a metabolic pre-load for maximum weight and blood sugar control..
