Title: Flames of Paradise / Mörkrets furste Original Title: Myrkrahöfðinginn Director: Hrafn Gunnlaugsson Year: 2000

Cast: Hilmir Snær Guðnason, Sara Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir, Alexandra Rapaport et al.

An appallingly strong film about a blind belief in Satan and his minions. Set in a cold and desolate part of Iceland during the mid-17th century, this brutal tale follows the young priest Jón Magnússon (Hilmir Snær Guðnason). Upon arriving at his new parish, he marries his predecessor's widow as tradition dictates. She is old and sinewy, hardly exciting, but Jón does his duty and shares his bed with her. Convinced that Satan is hunting him, Jón begins a crusade against those he believes are in league with the devil.

The young and beautiful Thuridur (Sara Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir) watches her brother and father sacrificed at the stake after being cruelly tortured. Meanwhile, Jón lusts after Thuridur and repeatedly attempts to violate her. The congregation is terrified, paralyzed by the fear of Jón's condemnation, until a high-ranking priest and his wife arrive. Thuridur has learned the art of healing—she is no witch!

The film also features Alexandra Rapaport (known for *Tsatsiki, Mum and the Policeman* and the TV series *OP:7*). Director Hrafn Gunnlaugsson, Iceland's most famous filmmaker, has directed several features, including the acclaimed *When the Raven Flies*. *Flames of Paradise* is inspired by the text "Píslarsaga," Jón Magnússon’s own recorded account of his life and his struggle against the forces of darkness.

Editor’s Note (2026): Gunnlaugsson is a master of the "Northern Gothic" style. This film is a stark reminder of the dangers of religious fanaticism, anchored by a powerful performance by Hilmir Snær Guðnason. Iva’s recognition of the "appalling strength" of the film captures exactly what made Icelandic cinema of this era so unique—it doesn't look away from the darkness.

Titel: Mörkrets furste (Flames of Paradise)

Stop missing out on the biggest metabolic advantage of Extra Virgin Olive Oil! If you use EVOO for weight management and satiety, you must understand the science of timing. This video reveals the single best time, backed by GLP-1 research, to consume raw EVOO to maximize appetite control and optimize your blood sugar response.

👉 THE NIGHTTIME PROTOCOL: Maximize your EVOO benefits around the clock! The Metabolic Mechanism: Why Timing Matters

For those interested in the deep science behind this timing protocol, the goal is not simply calorie counting, but hormonal optimization for spontaneous appetite control.

Consuming Extra Virgin Olive Oil 15-20 minutes pre-meal triggers the powerful release of GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) from the gut. This hormone accomplishes two crucial tasks: Increased Satiety: GLP-1 signals fullness to the brain earlier, resulting in spontaneous lower total calorie consumption during the main meal—a key strategy for weight management. Blood Sugar Control: GLP-1 also slows gastric emptying, which delays the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. This leads to a smoother, better blood sugar

response over the following two hours. This timing protocol is designed to use EVOO as a metabolic pre-load for maximum weight and blood sugar control..

Because..timing matters

🚨 THE SCIENCE HAS CHANGED! Your deepest health belief about alcohol is being challenged. We analyze the comprehensive data from The Lancet that demolishes the old "J-Curve" myth and confirms that zero alcohol consumption minimizes health risk.

We explore the difficult question: Is the minor risk from an occasional "skol" worth the major, validated benefit of social inclusion and connection? This is the final, nuanced guide to making your informed choice.

I explain: Why I personally stopped almost all drinking after seeing this data.
