Title: Popular Music From Vittula Director: Reza Bagher
Runtime: 1 hour 46 minutes
Year: 2004

Cast: Niklas Ulfvarsson, Max Enderfors, Björn Kjellman, Sten Ljunggren, Tommy Vallikari, Jarmo Mäkinen, Kati Outinen et al.

Based on Mikael Niemi's hit novel, this is a drastic tale of childhood friends Matti and Niila growing up in the Tornedalen region during the 60s and 70s. Vittula is a place in northern Sweden near the Finnish border. The boys first meet in the sprawling neighborhood on the outskirts of Pajala known as "Vittulajänkkä"—or Vittula—which translates to "C*nt Mire," a sort of tribute to the legendary fertility of the area.

When a new music teacher arrives in town, Matti and Niila start a rock band with a few other boys. While inseparable as children, they begin to drift apart during their teens, largely due to a betrayal by Matti.

The film features a truly fantastic gallery of eccentric characters: lusty women of all ages, a housewives' gymnastics group that is quite something to behold, a wild hunting party where moonshine flows freely in the sauna, and even an odd traveling salesman.

The most entertaining scene, in my opinion, occurs when the church fills up for a guest sermon by a visiting Black pastor. When the official interpreter faints, little Niila takes over. Having listened to Esperanto on the radio and learned a few words, he volunteers when the pastor asks if anyone speaks the language. Tommy Vallikari plays this brilliantly.

Reza Bagher won my heart with *Wings of Glass*, and I think he has succeeded here in creating an entertaining portrayal of 60s and 70s Tornedalen. (The film could have been fifteen minutes shorter.) See it!

Editor’s Note (2026): This film perfectly captures the magical realism of the North. It’s a story about the transition from the old, silent Sweden to the loud, rock-n-roll era.

Titel: Populärmusik från Vittula
Regi: Reza Bagher

Stop missing out on the biggest metabolic advantage of Extra Virgin Olive Oil! If you use EVOO for weight management and satiety, you must understand the science of timing. This video reveals the single best time, backed by GLP-1 research, to consume raw EVOO to maximize appetite control and optimize your blood sugar response.

👉 THE NIGHTTIME PROTOCOL: Maximize your EVOO benefits around the clock! The Metabolic Mechanism: Why Timing Matters

For those interested in the deep science behind this timing protocol, the goal is not simply calorie counting, but hormonal optimization for spontaneous appetite control.

Consuming Extra Virgin Olive Oil 15-20 minutes pre-meal triggers the powerful release of GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) from the gut. This hormone accomplishes two crucial tasks: Increased Satiety: GLP-1 signals fullness to the brain earlier, resulting in spontaneous lower total calorie consumption during the main meal—a key strategy for weight management. Blood Sugar Control: GLP-1 also slows gastric emptying, which delays the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. This leads to a smoother, better blood sugar

response over the following two hours. This timing protocol is designed to use EVOO as a metabolic pre-load for maximum weight and blood sugar control..

Because..timing matters
