Joe Scot is a snorting, self-centered, and wealthy Hollywood actor living in Malibu. When he is rejected for a role he had expected to play, it causes him to reflect on his meaningless life and the events that have shaped it.

When his childhood friend Boots suddenly dies, he visits his hometown on the British coast 25 years later. He remembers his teenage years and the seductive arts of his neighbor Evelyn, which led to a great tragedy for both of them—a tragedy that caused his own hasty flight from home. Above all, he remembers his childhood sweetheart Ruth, who later married Boots.

Editor's Note (2026): This film showcases a different side of Daniel Craig, far from his action roles. Iva captures the film's melancholic tone and its focus on how the events of youth echo throughout a lifetime.
