Many have eagerly read Dan Brown's novel of the same name. Now, it arrives on the big screen with a star-studded cast. Tom Hanks stars as symbologist Robert Langdon, while Audrey Tautou plays Sophie Neveu, a police cryptologist.
When Robert is summoned to the Louvre in Paris following a murder, a partnership begins. The victim managed to leave eerie clues at the crime scene, and it is revealed that Sophie is the victim's granddaughter. Together, the two specialists painstakingly unravel the clues, which eventually lead them to the works of Leonardo da Vinci.
To complicate matters, Robert and Sophie become suspects in the murder. They are thrust into a perilous and frantic chase, pursued by the relentless "assassin monk" Silas.
I belong to the minority who found the book "sluggish" and boring, and I actually prefer the film adaptation. It's no masterpiece and feels a bit overlong, but it is a decent piece of craftsmanship.
